New Zealand take silver with a 4 - 5 loss to Brazil (on a "golden goal" 4 minutes into extra time). The period scores were ( 1-0,2-1,1-2,0-1,0-1 ). New Zealand led throughout the game until Brazil clawed back a draw in the 4th period.

Pools C & D comprise countries ranked 9th to 16th. New Zealand was ranked 15th and Brazil ranked 11th going into the Championship. The 3-4 finalists Australia and Hungary were ranked 14th and 10th respectively.
