Regional Championships 2006
Event Notice
=
Regional Committees are
responsible for conducting a Regional Championship. The Regional Championsh=
ip
season shall finish no later than August 27th, 2006. Except for the mandatory rules fo=
r Regional
Championships as set by NZIHA, Regional Committ=
ees
are free to organize their Regional Championships to suit the special
conditions of each region as long as all conditions are set down in their
regional Event Notice, approved by NZIHA, and published prior to the
commencement of the Regional Championships.
Mandatory Rules:
The Regional Committee shall
publish a Regional Championship Event Notice including these mandatory rule=
s.
· =
The event is to be named the Regional
Championship and the term Regional Champion to be conferred on the winning =
team
in each grade.
· =
All clubs must be affiliated to NZIHA by Mar=
ch
31st 2006 or prior to any of their teams participating in the
Regional Championships.
· =
The Regional Championship will be conducted
under the NZIHA By-Laws, the NZIHA Official Rule Book and rules in the Regi=
onal
Championship Event Notice. Wh=
ere
the Official Rule Book and the Regional Championship event notice conflict,=
the
event notice will take priority.
·
NZIHA official score sheets must be used for the scoring=
of
all games.
·
The NZIHA Disciplinary Procedures shall be followed.
·
All players must be currently registered with
NZIHA for the club they are playing for prior to taking part in any regional
championship game. When players have played in a regional championship with=
in
the current season and thereafter transfer to another club they are ineligi=
ble
to continue playing in the regional championship unless the NZIHA grants
dispensation prior to July 31st, 2006. (Doc # NZIHA 05101)

In Regional
Championships players shall be entered as playing for one team except for w=
omen
who may play for both the senior women’s grade and an age grade. However, provided that they comply=
with
age eligibility at all times, players are permitted to play in other teams =
of a
higher age grade or higher divisions within an age grade of the same club a
maximum of three times. Where players have played for other teams of any hi=
gher
age grade or division on more than three occasions they are ineligible to p=
lay
down. Where a club has two te=
ams in
the same division, players may play for only one team in the regional
championships.

A team whi=
ch
fields an ineligible player is deemed to have forfeited the game with a loss
recorded and a score of 5 - 0 or the act=
ual
score whichever is most advantageous for the non-offending team.
·
Mercy Rule=
shall
apply in all games :- When on=
e team
is 10 goals ahead of the other, that is the final score for the game and no
further goals shall be recorded. The game continues and is officiated as
normal.
· =
Where a club has more than one team in the <=
u>Open
Grade of the Regional Championships, players may play for only one of t=
hose
teams for the duration of the Regional Championships.
If one tea=
m from
a club qualifies for the National Championships Open Grade, the club may se=
lect
its
Nationals =
team
from all of its eligible players.
If two tea=
ms
from a club qualify for the National Championships Open Grade, players who =
have
played in =
the
Regional Championships in one of the qualifying teams are only eligible to =
play
in the
same team =
as
they played in the Regional Championships.=
However, other eligible players in the club
may be inc=
luded.
· =
Where the Regional Championship has separate
divisions within a grade, eligibility for entry to the National Championshi=
ps
will be determined by the result of the A division within the grade.
· =
The Regional Committee shall decide how the
national qualifiers shall be determined.
· =
If eligibility for entry to the National Cha=
mpionships
is to be determined by way of a Playoff (hereinafter referred to as
“Nationals Qualifier”), Regional Committees must publish a
Nationals Qualifier Event Notice.
· =
All players, including Women, must be entered
under one team and can play for only one team at the Nationals Qualifier.
· =
Entry close dates, entry fees & rink fees
must be notified.
· =
Officials to be provided by clubs & teams
must be notified in the Regional Event Notice.
· =
The points system must be notified in the
Regional Event Notice.
