2006 Northern Regional Competition

The 2006 Northern Regional Competition will
comprise Regional Leagues, Regional Championships and National Qualifiers
(Playoffs).

The organizing authority for the 2006 Nort=
hern
Regional Competition is the NZIHA Northern Region Committee.
-&n=
bsp;
The Regional Leagues, Regional Championshi=
ps
and National Qualifiers (Playoffs) will be conducted under the sanction of=
the
NZIHA, the NZIHA By-laws, the NZIHA Game Rules, the Northern Region Commit=
tee
Tournament Rules and this Event Notice.

The Regional Championships and National
Qualifiers (Playoffs) will also be conducted under the NZIHA Regional
Championship guidelines.

U/10, U/12, U/14, U/16, U20, Women and Sen=
ior.
Clubs & Teams
-&n=
bsp;
The 2006 Northern Regional Leagues and Cha=
mpionships
are open to teams entered by NZIHA Northern Region affiliated clubs.
Players
-&n=
bsp;
Players must be registered with the NZIHA =
prior
to playing their first game. (Note that to be eligible to play at the Nati=
onal
Championships players aged 16 and over on the 1st January 2006 =
must
be registered by the 31st July 2006)
-&n=
bsp;
Players shall be entered as playing for one
club and one team only, except for women who may play in the Women’s
grade and an age grade.
-&n=
bsp;
Players may play up an age grade or where =
there
are several divisions within a grade up a division within the age grade a
maximum of three times.
-&n=
bsp;
Where a player in a team competing in a
Regional Championship has played three games up in another team in a Regio=
nal
Championship whichever team they next play for is the team in which they m=
ust
remain for the rest of the Regional Championship competition. (Note also t=
hat
players are ineligible to play in a grade at Nationals if they have played=
more
that three times in a higher age grade or age grades during Regional
Championships.)
Regional Leagues & Regional Championsh=
ips

The format of Leagues and Championships is
expected to be a minimum of a single round robin however this may vary
depending on the number of entries received.

bsp;
Where the number of en=
tries
within a grade is such that it is impractical to run a single competition =
the
Grade will be split into divisions. Clubs will have the choice of nominati=
ng
the status of their teams, either an A or a B. Only teams competing in an A
division within an Age Grade will be eligible =
for
qualification towards the National Championships.
National Qualifiers

The format will be a single ro=
und
robin.
-&n=
bsp;
For the U12, U14, U16 and U20
grades the top five clubs in the Regional Championship will playoff to dec=
ide
the team or teams that qualify for the Nationals.

bsp;
For the Women’s grade the
Regional Championships will decide the team or teams that qualify for the
Nationals.
-&n=
bsp;
For the Open grade the Regional
Championships will decide the team or teams that qualify for the Nationals=
.

In 2006 National Championships=
will
be held for the U12, U14, U16, U20, Women and Open grades.
-&n=
bsp;
The actual number of teams that
qualify depends on the number of teams competing in the Regional Champions=
hips
and will be determined by the NZIHA by the 31st May 2006.

bsp;
Where a club qualifies for one
entry into the Nationals it may select a team from all of its eligible pla=
yers.
-&n=
bsp;
In the Open grade if two teams=
from
a club qualify for the National Championships, players who have played in =
the
Regional Championships in one of the qualifying teams are only eligible to=
play
in the same team as they played in the Regional Championships. However, ot=
her
eligible players in the club may be included.

bsp;
Players that have played up in=
a
higher grade during the Regional Championships or National Qualifiers more=
that
three times are ineligible to play at the Nationals in the lower grade.

bsp;
Players in grades U18 and high=
er
that register after the 1st July 2006 are ineligible to play at=
the
Nationals.

bsp;
The venues to be used, dependi=
ng on
availability are Skateland (Mt Wellington), ActivZone (Glenfield), Papatoe=
toe
(U10 to U16), Whangarei (U10 to U16), and Kerikeri.
-&n=
bsp;
The use of each rink will depe=
nd
upon the number of teams entered into the Northern Region Championships an=
d the
availability of rinks.

All entries are to be made on =
the
official Northern Region Entry Form or by email to the Regional Secretary

Closing date for entry into the
Northern Region Leagues is 5.00pm March 10th 2006.

bsp;
Late entries may be accepted t=
hroughout
the season at the discretion of the League Coordinator.

bsp;
Entry fees will be $30 per tea=
m fee
and a $15 per game, per team referee levy.
-&n=
bsp;
Teams are to provide a
scorer/timekeeper and a goal judge.
-&n=
bsp;
All Team Officials must be
registered with the NZIHA.
-&n=
bsp;
The League Coordinator will pu=
blish
at least one draft draw to be issued to directly to Clubs for comment foll=
owed
by a final draw issued to clubs and published on the NZIHA web site.
-&n=
bsp;
Games will be played as per the
final draw unless unsafe rink conditions or exceptional circumstances requ=
ire a
game to be postponed and rescheduled.

bsp;
All applications for a postpon=
ement
must be made directly to the League Coordinator.
-&n=
bsp;
Games may be scheduled to commence 31st March and finish no later t=
han 27th
August.
-&n=
bsp;
Playoffs for applicable grades will be
scheduled for 18th – 20th and 25th
– 27th August.

bsp;
There will be no games scheduled on the
following dates:-

– 30th April (Easter,

; 1st
– 2nd July (School Holidays)

; 7th
– 10th July (School Holidays and Tournaments)

When one team is 10 goals ahead of the oth=
er,
the score at that time will be recorded as the final score for the game an=
d no
further goals shall be recorded. The game continues and is officiated as
normal.

Game results and competition progress
information will be posted on the NZIHA web site (www.nziha.com) as they become availab=
le.
-&n=
bsp;
Each club is to advise an email contact ad=
dress
for the receiving of updated Regional Championship information.
Points
will be awarded or deducted as follows:

bsp;
Win awarded 2 points
-&n=
bsp;
Draw awarded 1 point each team
-&n=
bsp;
Loss awarded 0 points
-&n=
bsp;
A default or forfeit will result in 2 poin=
ts
being deducted from the offending teams overall points tally, and the game
score will be 5 – 0 or the actual score whichever is the most
advantageous to the other team.

Ties in the final standings will be resolv=
ed in
favor of the team that beat the other when the tied teams last met.
-&n=
bsp;
If this fails to resolve the tie, then the=
tie
will be resolved in favor of the team with the best goal difference over a=
ll games.
Where a goal difference is used to resolve ties the maximum goal difference
that can be taken from any game is 5.

Any tie that remains will be resolved in f=
avor
of the team with the least number of penalty minutes over all games.

bsp;
Ties in the final standings will be determ=
ined
by the final placing in the Regional Championships.

A prize giving will be held the venue and time will be announced once decided.
-&n= bsp; Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams in each Grade and each Division as at the conclusion of the Northern Region Championships. (not Regional Play-Offs)<= o:p>
