The 2005 Northern Regional Competition will
comprise Regional Leagues, Regional Championships and National Qualifiers
(Playoffs).
ORGANISING AUTHORITY &=

The organizing authority for the 2005 North=
ern
Region Competition is the NZIHA Northern Region Committee.
RULES
-&nb=
sp;
The Regional Leagues, Regional Championships
and National Qualifiers (Playoffs) will be conducted under the sanction of =
the
NZIHA, the NZIHA By-laws, the NZIHA Game Rules, the Northern Region Committ=
ee
Tournament Rules and this Event Notice.

sp;
The Regional Championships and National
Qualifiers (Playoffs) will also be conducted under the NZIHA Regional
Championship guidelines.

Clubs & Teams
- The 2005
Northern Regional Leagues and Championships are open to teams entered by NZ=
IHA
Northern Region affiliated clubs.

Players must be registered with the NZIHA p=
rior
to playing their first game.
Players – Regional Championships lead=
ing
to the Nationals
-&nb=
sp;
Players shall be entered as playing for one
club and one team only, except for women who may play in the Women’s
grade and an age grade.
-&nb=
sp;
Players in a Championship leading to the
Nationals may play up in another Championship leading to the Nationals a ma=
ximum
of three times. Where player has played up more that three times they are
ineligible to play down.
REGIONAL COMPETION FORMAT

The format is expected to be a minimum of a
single round robin however this may vary depending on the number of entries
received.

Where the number of ent=
ries
within a grade is such that it is impractical to run a single competition t=
he
Grade will be split into divisions. Clubs will have the choice of nominating
the status of their teams, either an A or a B. Only teams competing in an A
division within an Age Grade will be eligible f=
or
qualification towards the National Championships.
National Qualifiers
- The format=
will
be a single round robin.
NORTHERN REGION - QUALIFICATION FOR NATIONA=
LS

sp;
For the U12 grade the teams will
play a “best of three” playoff to decide the team that will qua=
lify
for an entry to the Nationals.

sp;
For the U14, U16 and U20 grades=
the
top five clubs in the Regional Championship will playoff to decide the team=
or
teams that qualify for the Nationals.
-&nb=
sp;
For the Women’s grade the
Regional Championships will decide the team or teams that qualify for the
Nationals.
-&nb=
sp;
For the Open grade the Regional
Championships will decide the team or teams that qualify for the Nationals.=
SUMMARY OF NZIHA RULES REGARDING QUALIFICAT=
ION
FOR NATIONALS (Note the information in this section is for guidance only)
-&nb=
sp;
In 2005 National Championships =
will
be held for the U12, U14, U16, U20, Women and Open grades.
-&nb=
sp;
The actual number of teams that
qualify depends on the number of teams competing in the Regional Championsh=
ips
and will be determined by the NZIHA by the 31st May 2005.
-&nb=
sp;
Where a club qualifies for one
entry into the Nationals it may select a team from all of its eligible play=
ers.
-&nb=
sp;
In the Open grade if two teams =
from
a club qualify for the National Championships, players who have played in t=
he
Regional Championships in one of the qualifying teams are only eligible to =
play
in the same team as they played in the Regional Championships. However, other eligible players in=
the club
may be included.
-&nb=
sp;
Players that have played up in a
higher grade during the Regional Championships or National Qualifiers more =
that
three times are ineligible to play at the Nationals in the lower grade.
-&nb=
sp;
Players in grades U18 and higher
that register after the 1st July 2005 are ineligible to play at =
the
Nationals.
VENUES

sp;
The venues to be used, dependin=
g on
availability are Mt Wellington, Wiri, Whangarei=
, Glenfield and Kerikeri.

sp;
The use of each rink will depend
upon the number of teams entered into the Northern Region Championships and=
the
individual rinks availability.
ENTRIES & FEES

sp;
All entries are to be made on t=
he
official Northern Region Entry Form or by email to the Regional Secretary (=
-&nb=
sp;
Closing date for entry into the
Northern Region Leagues is 5.00pm March 11th 2004.
-&nb=
sp;
Late entries may be accepted at=
the
discretion of the League Coordinator.
-&nb=
sp;
Entry fees and referee levies p=
er
team are to be decided mid February and clubs will be notified.
OFFICIALS
-&nb=
sp;
Teams are to provide a
scorer/timekeeper and a goal judge.
-&nb=
sp;
All Team Officials must be
registered with the NZIHA.
DRAW
-&nb=
sp;
The League Coordinator will pub=
lish
at least one draft draw to be issued to directly to Clubs for comment follo=
wed
by a Final draw issued to clubs and published on the NZIHA web site..
-&nb=
sp;
Games will be played as per the
“Final” draw unless unsafe rink conditions or exceptional
circumstances require a game to be postponed and rescheduled.

sp;
All applications for a postpone=
ment
must be made directly to the League Coordinator.
COMPETITION DATES

Games may be scheduled to commence 2nd April and finish no later tha=
n 28th
August.

sp;
There will be no games scheduled on the
following dates:-

sp;
3rd – 6th June (

22nd – 28th April

ROUND ROBIN POINTS
Points
will be awarded or deducted as follows:

Loss awarded 0 points
-&nb=
sp;
A default or forfeit will result in 2 points
being deducted from the offending teams overall points tally, and the game
score will be 5 – 0 or the actual score whichever is the most
advantageous to the other team.
RESOLVING TIES – REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

sp;
Ties in the final standings will be resolve=
d in
favour of the team that beat the other when the=
tied
teams last met.
-&nb=
sp;
If this fails to resolve the tie, then the =
tie
will be resolved in favour of the team with the=
best
goal difference over all games.
Where a goal difference is used to resolve ties the maximum goal
difference that can be taken from any game is 5.

sp;
Any tie that remains will be resolved in favour of the team with the least number of penalty m=
inutes
over all games.
RESOLVING TIES – NATIONAL QUALIFIERS

Ties in the final standings will be determi=
ned
by the final placing in the Regional Championships.
GAME RESULTS

Game results and competition progress
information will be posted on the NZIHA web site

as they become available.

Each club is to advise an email
contact address for the receiving of updated Regional Championship

information.
PRIZES

sp;
A prize giving will be held the venue and time will be announced once decided.

Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd
and 3rd placed teams in each Grade and each Division as at the
conclusion of the Northern Region Championships. (not Regional Play-Offs)
