DUTIES OF A GOAL JUDGE

1.             To signal that the puck has fully crossed the goal line between the goal posts and under the crossbar by holding both arms in a vertical position above the head.

•       Hold your arms up if you see that the puck has entirely

         crossed the goal line, between the posts, and under the

         cross bar.

•       Hold your arms up until the referee has, either:

•       blown their whistle and signaled that a goal has been

         scored, or

•       the referee signals no goal (wash out signal) - wait

until the signaling referee directly looks at you before

dropping your arms

•       If the referee doesn’t signal a goal or give the washout

signal keep your arms up.

2.             To signal to a referee if the goal cage has been displaced out of position – stand upright with one arm raised vertically above head. You may also call out to the referee.

3.             Observe whether or not there were any opposition players in the crease prior to the puck entering, but;

(i)            do not take this into account when signaling whether or not the puck crossed the goal line. Your main job is to signal if a puck fully crosses the goal line between the goal posts and under the crossbar.

(ii)          do not volunteer this information to the referee. If the referee has any doubts about awarding a goal they will approach you and ask you directly. (as per Rule 502-f)

REMEMBER;

A GOAL JUDGES MAIN DUTY IS TO WATCH FOR AND TO SIGNAL WHEN THEY HAVE SEEN THE PUCK FULLY CROSS THE GOAL LINE BETWEEN THE POSTS AND UNDER THE CROSSBAR REGARDLESS OF OTHER

CIRCUMSTANCES.
