Northern Region League 2003 Playoffs - Tournament Rules
1.
Rules
of Play shall be the NZIHA Rules 2002 edition. Any interpretations or amendments
will be advised by the
Northern Region Championship Play‑Off
Competition co-ordinator via the notice boards at the rinks.
2. Players must be NZIHA registered
with the club entering the team and must be eligible to compete in the team and
grade in which they have been entered.
3.
A
maximum of 4 Team officials will be allowed on a team's bench, all officials
must be registered with the NZIHA and
Must produce proof of registration if asked
for.
4. Games will be four 10 minute
periods. Time‑outs will be one per team per game. There will be no
'sudden death' overtime period for tied games. Stop‑time will be played
in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter provided that the score is
within one goal or tied. Once Stop‑Time has commenced it will continue
regardless of what die scores become for the remainder of the game.
4.
The
game clock will be stopped at a referees discretion. Timekeepers will not stop
the game clock unless directed to do so by the referee. The only exception
being stop‑time as set down in clause 4 of these rules.
5. The score as shown on the electronic
score board is subject to final confirmation upon completion of the Official
score sheet.
7. The
Northern Region Championship Play‑Off Competition organisers reserve the
right to:
(i) Alter the schedule of games in the
case of unforeseen circumstances. All changes will be advised by the Northern
Region Championship Coordinator via club secretaries.
(ii) Make whatever operational changes that
are deemed necessary to provide optimum playing conditions. Any changes will be
advised by the Northern Region Championship Coordinator via club secretaries.
Some changes may need to be handled at the time by the referees in
conjunction with the competing teams managers.
8. Northern Region Play‑Off Competition
organisers reserve the right to start games up to 15 minutes prior to the
scheduled start time. Team managers/coaches are to ensure that their teams
are ready to play at least 15 minutes ahead of scheduled start time also that
their off‑floor officials arc ready to officiate and not delay the
game.
9. All
players in a team are to be uniformly dressed (ie/. matching jerseys and leg
apparel must be of the same base colour).
Players who do not comply will not be allowed to take part in the game,
10. Teams must have an alternate jersey
available in the event of the Referee declaring a clash of colours of the
two competing teams. It is the Home team
that must change its jersey in accordance with Rule 307 (c).
11. The
regional Disciplinary Committee will deal with all disciplinary matters.
12. Protests must be verbally notified to
the Referee at the rink by the Captain of the protesting team immediately after
the game and in writing within I hour after the completion of the game to an
appointed official of the Northern Region Committee and be accompanied by a fee
of $50.00 which is refundable if the protest is upheld.
13. It is
a condition of entry to the Northern Regional Play‑Offs that clubs
provide two off‑floor officials for each game.
ie/. a scorer/timekeeper and a goal judge.
14. All
skates must be rink friendly ‑ eg/. flush mounted axel bolts.
15. The
official tournament puck is to be the Black IDS puck for all games and provided by the Home team.
16.
If
there is a tie in the standings at the end of the Play‑Off competition
then final placing will be determined by the
results achieved in the Northern Regions
Championship competition. The top two (2) teams will be eligible for entry to
the National Championships.
17.
It is
the responsibility of the manager from each team to check that the team roster
is correctly recorded on the Official Score Sheet and to initial the score
sheet BEFORE EVERY GAME. The Northern Region Championship Play‑Off
Competition organisers will not be held responsible for omissions or errors in
team rosters on the official score sheets.
