Northern Region Playoffs 2003 - Event Notice 

ORGANISING AUTHORITY

 

The organising authority for the 2003 Northern Region Championships Play‑Off Competition is the Northern Region management committee.

 

RULES

 

The 2003 Northern Region Championships Play‑Off Competition will be conducted under sanction of the NZIHA and it's by‑laws, the NZIHA Rules 2002 Edition, the Northern Region Championships Play‑Off Competition Tournament Rules and this Event Notice.

 

GRADES THAT CAN BE CONTESTED

 

U/10, U/12, U/14, U/16, U/18, Women and Senior.

 

ELIGIBILITY

 

Clubs & Teams

The 2003 Northern Region Championship Play‑Off Competition is open to: ‑ All NZIHA affiliated clubs contained within the boundaries of the Northern Region. ‑ All teams who finished in the top five (5) teams of their Age Grade having been entered by such affiliated clubs. ‑ There is a limit of one team per Age Grade per club.

 

Players

       Players must be registered with the NZIHA for the club they are playing for.

       Players must comply with age eligibility. ie/. can not play down an Age Grade, but can play up.

       Clubs who during the Northern Region Championships may have had more than one team in an Age Grade

         may combine players from both/all of their teams within an Age Grade to compete in the Northern Region

         Play-Off Competition provided that they comply with Rule 201 ‑ Composition of Team.

       All players, including Women, shall be entered as playing for one club and one team only during the Northern

         Region Championships Play‑Off Competition.

 

FORMAT

 

The format of the Northern Region Championship Play‑off Competition will be that of a Round Robin, with the two (2) top teams in each Age Grade being eligible for entry to the National Championships.

 

VENUES

 

The venues for the Northern Region Championship Play‑off Competition are the Mt Wellington and Nutra‑Life rinks.

 

ENTRIES & FEES

 

       Entry fee per team is $(insert agreed amount)

       Referee levies are:

(i) U/ 16 and below            $(insert agreed amount) per team

(ii) U/ 18 and above           $(insert agreed amount) per team

        Acceptance of a clubs entry is conditional upon each team providing two off‑floor officials at each game.

ie/. a scorer/timekeeper and a goal judge.

       Referees are to be admitted free.

 

DRAW

 

A draw will be produced and issued to all clubs. There will be no postponements other than for unsafe rink conditions.

 

 

COMPETITION DATES

 

Games will be scheduled to commence Date to be inserted and finish no later than 01 September, 2003.

 

POINTS

 

Points will be awarded or deducted as follows:

      Win awarded 2 points

      Draw awarded I point each team

      Loss awarded 0 points

      A default or no show will result in 2 points being deducted from the offending teams overall points tally.

       A team found to have fielded an ineligible player shall forfeit the game and the result shall be recorded as 5‑nil or the actual score whichever is the most advantageous to the non‑offending team.

      Teams that do not provide the required game officials will have I point deducted.

 

FINAL PLACING

 

In the event of a tie when determining the top two (2) teams in each Age Grade for advancement to the National Championships, final placing will be determined by the results achieved in the Northern Regions Championship competition. The top two (2) teams will be eligible for entry to the National Championships.

 

GAME RESULTS

 

       Game scores are to be recorded in an Official NZ1HA Score Book provided by the Northern Region

         committee to each rink. The white copies are to stay at, the rink and be forwarded to the Northern Region

         Championships Play‑Off Competition co-ordinator by a person designated by the Northern Region

management committee immediately after each days competition. Results of the Play‑Offs will be posted on the NZIHA homepage (www.nziha.com) Clubs will receive results of the Northern Region Championship Play‑Off Competition showing final placing of all teams competing.

 

CLUBS RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Clubs are responsible for providing two off‑floor officials for each game that one of their club teams competes in. ie/. a scorer/timekeeper and a goal judge. Team managers are responsible for their teams copies of the score sheet which are to be kept until after the completion of the Northern Region Championships Play‑Off Competition and must be made available to the Northern Region Championship Play‑Off Competition co-ordinator if requested, due to a white copy going missing.
