TOURNAMENT RULES

 

 

1.         Entries will generally be accepted on a "first come/first served" basis.

            The organising committee reserves the right to make the final decisions.

 

 

2.         Players must be registered with the NZIHA;  team ages as at 1 January 2003.

            Players must play for one and the same team throughout the tournament.

            Any player penalised for fighting will be banned from further participation 

            in the event.

 

 

3.         NZIHA rules apply.

 

 

4.         All teams will play each other within their age grade (except for U18/Senior

            which will be mixed, depending on number of entries in this grade.)

 

           

5.         Pool games will apply, depending on number of entries - otherwise round

            robin.   Pool games will be 2 periods of 18 minutes with a 2 minute break

            between periods.    The length of the games will be dependent on number of

            entries.

 

 

6.         Two points will be awarded for a win, one point for a draw.      Semi-finals

            will consist of 1st from one pool playing 2nd from the other.   The two

            winning teams from these games will play off in the finals.    Where there is

            a round robin, 1st will play 2nd in the final.

 

 

7.         Final games will be two periods of 20 minutes with a 2 minute break.   In the

            event of a tie, 5 minutes extra time will be played and the first team to score

            will be the winner.    If there is no result at the end of 5 minutes, there will be

            a shoot-out following usual NZIHA format.

 

 

8.         Co-operation is required from all clubs for scoring, goal judging and

            refereeing duties.

 

 

9.         Some games may be scheduled for Friday night, 30th May, depending on

            number of entries.    These games will be for local clubs only.
